2017 BCABBA VanCity Showdown
Bodybuilding, Physique, Figure, Fitness & Bikini Championships
(New Westminster, B.C. - October 14, 2017)
The second year for this show saw an increase to around 100 competitors, many of whom entered multiple classes/divisions. As part of the traditional (WADDA tested) competition
stream, it leads to the BC Cup Provincial Championships along with the
Kelowna Classic. Promoter Corey Swiergosz of Influential Sports Inc. also put on Powerlifting/arm wrestling events during the day.
It was a good day for the mature athletes, particularly on the women's side. Starting with Bikini, veteran competitor Annette Colligan took both the Open
and Masters titles with good, balanced development throughout. Another strong contender was Masters 35+ winner Martina Getz, she had won the category's overall
title at the 2017 Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic. Open Bikini 'A' featured impressive winner and runner up Sheila Gatcho and Alexandra Raymond respectively,
look for them to do well in the future.

With the men's categories, the judges had a very clear deliniation of what constituted the 'look' for each one. While a number of competitors entered multiple
categories, they fared from taking Overall titles to not placing at all if they weren't the best look for that division.

Figure also gave props to the seasoned athlete as Masters 45+ competitor Renata Freundlich took both the Overall Masters and Open title..."abs to die for"! Very
well deserved. In Women's Physique, Germana Rovinelli had the muscle and graceful posing to really entertain the crowd.
