Courtney McLean - Figure Novice Champion
Our coverage of competitions extends beyond the stage, whether here or on social media, and The Northwest Championships was no different. Figure took particular prominence this time and caught our attention with Tacoma's Courtney McLean making her competitive debut, unanimous placing scores in both Novice (1st place) and runner up in Open 'A' to eventual overall winner Julia Monroe (who's next step is Nationals and a good shot at a Pro Card). Courtney has the shape, size and stage presence to go far in the sport! We followed up with a gym shoot two weeks later. Thank you to
The Base Fitness Gym for the use of the location.

"My dad was the person who got me into lifting and fitness. He first took me to the gym when I was 14 years old and I fell in love with it. I used to focus more on powerlifting but I decided to do my first show and transition into bodybuilding and I love it! Spencer King is my coach and he's been amazing throughout this whole process. I enjoy challenging myself and seeing how far I can push myself. The ultimate goal is to go pro, but as long as I bring a better version of myself to the stage each time I'll be happy. I've always admired and have been motivated by Dana Linn Bailey! My posing coach, Sarah Vogt, is also a huge inspiration to me in the figure category of bodybuilding."
